Fractional Scar Removal is ideal if you have acne scarring, surgical scars, stretch marks, fine lines & wrinkles, open pores or age spots.

Unlike other laser treatments, fractional scar removal treatment precisely treats thousands of microscopic areas of skin using pinpoint laser beams that penetrate beneath the skin’s surface.

It creates microscopic zones of thermal injury in both the epidermis (the top layer of skin) and dermis (the second layer) but leaves the surrounding islands of tissue undamaged.

These micro-thermal zones stimulate the body’s own natural healing process which eliminates old, damaged cells and stimulates the formation of new collagen (the main support structure of skin).

Whereas traditional resurfacing lasers stripped the entire skin surface, fractional scar removal treatments target between just 5% and 35% of the surface, leaving the remainder available to rapidly heal the treated areas.

Laser Hair Removal London - The Process

First you must attend a consultation where we’ll ask you about your medical history in order to confirm your suitability for treatment. You’ll be asked to sign a consent form and take a patch test 72 hours before treatment.

The procedure starts with fully cleansing the area to be treated, then cooling with cold air to minimise discomfort.

Once the procedure starts you will feel a sharp, pricking sensation and a build up of heat (a little like sunburn).

After the area has been covered, we apply Lynton Light Soothe, followed by another 10 minutes of cooling time on the skin.

We’ll repeat the session every 4, 6 or 8 weeks depending on your skin type.

You will feel the ice cold air from the Cryo Machine as we glide the laser machine across the skin. You’ll feel a slight tingling – some patients have described it as a hot pinprick or stinging sensation – but it shouldn’t really be painful.

After they’ve finished your laser hair removal treatment, your practitioner will apply a cooling gel and then an SPF sunscreen to sooth and protect the treated area. Each treatment can take between 15 minutes and two hours, depending on the amount of hair being treated.

The underarm may take 15 minutes or less, legs 30 – 45 minutes, and the back 45 minutes to two hours . Our friendly, expert team will do everything they can to keep you comfortable throughout your course of treatments and ensure you’re free of problem hair and feeling great as soon as possible.

Recovery time depends on the levels that are used, but usually after the first treatment you’ll have to stay in for about 3 to 4 days.

It varies a little bit depending on the wavelengths used. For the deeper treatments it’s more of a red swollen sunburnt look that lasts for a maximum of a week. If your treatment is on your face, you can apply make-up, so generally after 3 to 4 days you can go back to work wearing make-up.

Following the treatment the area will appear very red and may be swollen. It will feel hot and tender for several hours following that treatment.

The redness (similar to sunburn) and swelling may last a few days but can be minimised with the application of cold compresses. Facial swelling can be reduced by sleeping with your head raised on pillows.

In order to minimise skin heating and reduce the likelihood of skin reactions, the treatment area will be cooled after the procedure. Once you get home, you may like to apply a cold compress. If applying an ice pack at home, always put ice in a clean plastic bag and wrap in a soft cloth.

While the redness persists, don’t indulge in any heavy drinking, go to the sauna or do strenuous exercise, as those activities increase the redness in your skin.

The skin will feel tight following the treatment, but using Lynton Light Soothe for a day or two following your treatment can help relieve that.

Starting on day 2-3 the skin will appear flaky and have a bronzed appearance as the epidermal debris comes to the surface; this generally lasts about 5 days on the face and 10 days on the body. This is a positive sign and indicates that the skin is regenerating.

The skin will return to normal within seven to ten days, although some flakes may remain for up to 14 days.

Make-up should be avoided until the skin has completely healed.

Use SPF daily.

DO NOT pick the skin during the healing process.
